Horror genre
Horror
films are made to frighten the audience; they often invoke our own hidden worst
fears. They use a wide range of styles, from the early silent films to today’s
CGI monsters and crazy humans. Horror films often have a terrifying shocking
finale which captivates and entertains the audience. Horror films are often
combined with science fiction, where the monster/ villain is related to a
corrupted corporation, or earth is threatened by aliens. They can also be
combined with fantasy and supernatural genres.
Horror films also have many sub-genres, like:
- slasher
- teen terror
- serial killers
- Satanic
- Dracula
- Frankenstein
Some examples of horror films are:
The Evil
Dead (1981)
The evil dead was made in 1981, its about five friends which travel to a cabin in the woods and then accidentally release some demons by listening to the recorded version of the book of the dead, these demons can possess people, and begin killing them.
The Blair
Witch Project (1999)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
A nightmare on elm street was created in 1984, its about a pedophile who is killing ids in their sleep as revenge for being killed by their parents.
Bride of
Frankenstein (1935)
The Birds
(1963)
The birds was made in 1963, it's about a wealthy socialite pursuing a potential boyfriend to a small town. Then the birds start to attack the people there, getting more and more vicious.
The Fly
(1986)
The fly was made in 1986, it's about a scientist that creates a teleportation device, but he then goes through it with a fly turning him into a human/fly hybrid. The film follows him as he mutates into a never before seen monster, and shows us what happens to the women who loves him.
